¶ New Heaven and New Earth
The New Heaven and New Earth
refer to the future renewed creation
that God will bring into existence
after the present age.
This is the ultimate and eternal dwelling place of God with His people.
The Bible teaches that the current heavens and earth will one day be replaced by a completely renewed creation. This is not merely a renovation of the old, but a new and perfect order in which:
- Sin, death, sorrow, and pain will be completely removed.
- God will dwell directly with His people.
- Righteousness will fully reign.
- The effects of the curse will be reversed.
This future reality is described most clearly in the final chapters of the Bible and represents the complete fulfillment of God’s redemptive plan.
- Revelation 21:1 — Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea.
- Revelation 21:3-4 — And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”
- Revelation 21:5 — Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.”
- 2 Peter 3:13 — Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.
- Isaiah 65:17 — For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; and the former shall not be remembered or come to mind.
