Prayer for My Grown Child, a Boy

Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the privilege of prayer;
How merciful and good You are! I worship and praise You!

I come to you, Lord, interceding for my grown child.
I speak the name of this dear one - - -

Your Word says You will "heal their waywardness and love them freely" and I receive this promise with great thankfulness.

Your Word gives the example of Job, who faithfully and regularly sacrificed a burnt offering for each of his children.
I, too, would be faithful in bringing this one to You
that he would receive Jesus, Lamb of God, perfect atonement.

I realize I cannot change or fix the lives of others.
I wish I could take away all hurtful memories and problems,
and spare him from unhappiness, stress, and failure,
but You desire to bring him into a deeper relationship with You,
so I rest him in Your love.

I would not ask You to withhold what can turn out for good when touched by Your mighty, redeeming hand.

In all of this I, too, am learning to trust You in all circumstances.
I give up my spoken and unspoken expectations of him.
Forgive my anger, resentment, and fear, and all other sins.
I renounce confusion, and accept Your marvelous peace.

I speak Your total and complete blessing over my child.
I ask You to place on him Your perfect spiritual armor:

Grant him the gifts of the Holy Spirit and wisdom to grow in grace.

Bring healing for body, soul, and spirit.
Loose him from all curses of any kind,
and from harm coming down from past generations.
I declare him victor over all the enemy's deceptions.

I love him and accept him as he is just now, and release him to become the person you have designed in Your perfect will.
Make my son a godly man.

Give him today a magnificent new beginning, for Your glory.
By faith I welcome this with joy and confidence,
in the wonderful name of Jesus,
AMEN.
