'Pro-Choicers' steering a leaky Titanic
Over 80% of Americans firmly believe in 'it'.
Although paying lip service to 'it', 'pro-choicers' firmly reject 'it'.
What is 'it'?
Popularly known as WRTK (Women's Right To Know),
'it' is informed medical consent.
'Pro-choicers' dramatize how 'dangerous' giving birth is.
OK, let's concede that 5 deaths per hundred thousand births (Journal of the American
Medical Association) is almost as dangerous as fighting in war and that women should be
warned about this risk by their hired medical professionals.
If there is an ELECTIVE medical treatment that carries about 400 times the
mortality risk of birth, should a woman NOT be warned of this risk?
'Pro-choicers' say 'yes', warn about maternal mortality risk but say 'no' about warning
of the 'ABC' (Abortion-Breast-Cancer) mortality risk. How do you spell DOUBLE STANDARD and
hypocracy?
Where does the number 400 come from?
A young childless woman who has an induced abortion, increases her breast cancer
risk by about 69% (50% via interrupted pregnancy before a first full-term birth
and 19% from an average 5 year delay in first full-term birth). This 69% increase means
her BC 'odds' go from 12,000/100,000 to 20,280/100,000. Assuming that at least 25% of
breast cancer cases die from BC, then 'ABC' leads to 2,070 excess breast cancer deaths
(8,280/4).
According to JAMA, there are 5 maternal deaths per 100,000 births.
The ratio of maternal deaths deaths to 'ABC' deaths is 414 (2,070/5).
This sort of computation is shown in the article MAY CAUSE CANCER (National Review, Joel
Brind (PhD), 25 Dec 1995, pp. 38-41).
Who is spearheading the WRTK movement in the U.S.?
There are four states (Kansas, Louisiana, Montana, Mississippi) with 'ABC' laws requiring
that patients be informed of the cancer risk from induced abortion.
AUL (Americans United for Life) is the spearhead of the this movement (and uses Dr.
Joel Brind as advisor and expert-witness). It is likely more states will have such laws in
the next 18 months. In the Spring 1998 AUL newsletter (AUL Forum) is the following:
"AUL is also working to establish a nationwide network of doctors and other medical
professionals to educate their peers on the scientific evidence of the ABC link. And at
the federal level, AUL is providing educational information on the ABC link to national
policy and political leaders."
[I should have mentioned previously that AUL publishes an outstanding
booklet on the 'ABC' risk; 'free' but when I order some, I donate $5 per
copy]
