Judge not,
that ye be not judged.
For with what judgment ye judge,
ye shall be judged.
Judge not is the Lord’s word in the Sermon on the Mount. It is not a ban on all discernment. He says in the same chapter to know them by their fruits, and not to cast pearls before swine. He says elsewhere, judge righteous judgment. Paul tells the church to judge those within. The word forbids the proud measure, the beam in the eye, the sentence that belongs to God. It does not forbid naming sin, or testing a teacher, or keeping the house clean. The measure you use is the measure you receive.
