Surely the Lord God will do nothing,
but he revealeth his secret
unto his servants the prophets.
Holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
Prophets are the men God sent to speak His word. Prophecy is the message. The Lord does nothing without revealing His secret to His servants the prophets. Holy men spoke as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. The test is the word. If the prophet speaks in the name of other gods, or if the word does not come to pass, he is not sent. The prophets called Israel back, named the Messiah, and spoke of the day of the Lord. The office is God’s. The message is His. The church is told to test the spirits, and not to despise prophesyings.
