Teachers are gifts
given to the church
to instruct in the word.
And he gave some, apostles;
and some, prophets;
and some, evangelists;
and some, pastors and teachers;
for the perfecting of the saints.
Teachers are those gifted and called to instruct the church in the word of God. Christ gave pastors and teachers for the perfecting of the saints and the edifying of the body of Christ. Teachers hold fast the faithful word so that they may exhort and convince. Not many should be teachers, for they shall receive the greater condemnation. The teaching gift serves the growth of the body into the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ. Sound doctrine is the content of their work.
