Worship in the church is the assembly coming to God in spirit and truth.
Let all things be done for building up.
Jesus says the true worshipers worship the Father in spirit and truth. The church comes together for the apostles’ teaching, the fellowship, the breaking of bread, and the prayers. In Corinth each has a hymn, a lesson, a revelation. Paul requires understanding, order, and building up. They sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, making melody to the Lord. Worship is not a performance for the room. It is the assembly before God, and the neighbor must be built up.
- Spirit and truth replace “this mountain only” and “Jerusalem only.”
- The Lord’s Supper is worship when it is kept as He said.
- Decently and in order is the closing rule, not a quench of the Spirit.
