The guilt offering adds repayment to atonement when a holy thing or a neighbor has been wronged.
He shall make restitution and add a fifth.
The guilt offering, or trespass offering, is a ram, most holy. It is brought when someone sins in the holy things of the Lord, or deceives his neighbor in a deposit, a pledge, or a robbery, and then feels guilt. He restores what he took and adds a fifth. The priest makes atonement with the ram, and he is forgiven. The sin offering deals with the sin. The guilt offering also deals with the debt. Jesus is called the guilt offering in Isaiah’s servant song. Restitution and atonement meet in Him.
