The laver is the bronze basin where the priests wash before they serve.
They shall wash with water, so that they may not die.
The bronze basin, or laver, stands between the tent of meeting and the bronze altar. Aaron and his sons wash their hands and feet from it when they go into the tent or come near the altar to minister. They wash so that they do not die. Solomon’s temple has a great sea and ten basins in place of the one laver. The washing is not the sacrifice. It is the cleanness required of the men who approach. Jesus washes the disciples’ feet and says the one who has bathed needs only to wash his feet.
Wash with water, so that they may not die.
Between the tent and the altar.
The one who has bathed needs only to wash his feet.
They shall wash their hands and their feet, so that they may not die.
The basin stands between the tent and the altar.
The priests do not serve dirty. The washing is required. The clean approach is in Christ.
