A priest draws near to God with the offering, for the people.
They shall be holy to their God.
Under the law the priests are the sons of Aaron, of the tribe of Levi. They handle the blood, tend the altar, teach the difference between holy and common, and bless in the Lord’s name. The high priest alone enters the Most Holy Place, and only on the Day of Atonement. Jesus is a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek, not from Aaron’s line. The church is a royal priesthood, not a new set of Aaronic sons. The old priest was a copy. The priest who sat down is Christ.
