We have found the Messias,
which is,
being interpreted,
the Christ.
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he hath anointed me.
God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power.
Thou art the Christ,
the Son of the living God.
Anointed One is what Messiah and Christ mean. The word is the title. Jesus is that One. Andrew told Peter they had found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ. He read Isaiah in Nazareth and said the Spirit of the Lord was upon Him, because He had anointed Him. Peter says God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power. The oil on priests and kings was the sign. He is the One the sign was for. The anointing on His people is from the Holy One. It does not make another Christ.
