Joseph is the son of Jacob who was sold into Egypt, and the name of later men. Joseph the son of Jacob already has that path. Joseph the husband of Mary is the legal father of Jesus. Joseph of Arimathea gave the tomb. Joseph Barsabbas was the man not chosen when Matthias was. Do not move the patriarch’s story onto the husband of Mary, or the tomb onto the man in Egypt.
