Fruitfulness is
the natural result of
a life that abides in Christ.
In the Bible,
it refers to the visible evidence
of spiritual health
—
the production of godly character,
good works,
and the winning of souls.
Jesus taught that
those who remain in Him
will bear much fruit,
while those who do not abide
will be unfruitful.
Jesus used the image of a vine and its branches to teach about fruitfulness:
“I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5)
The Father is the vinedresser who prunes the branches so they can bear more fruit (John 15:1-2). Fruitfulness is not the result of human effort but the natural outcome of a close relationship with Christ.
