Jesus as the High Priest is the New Testament revelation that Christ fulfills and surpasses the entire Old Testament priesthood.

He did not enter an earthly tent with the blood of animals; He entered heaven itself with His own blood, securing an eternal redemption. Because He is both the Priest and the Sacrifice, and because He lives forever, His priesthood is perfect, permanent, and completely effective. Through Him believers have direct access to the throne of grace and an Advocate who always lives to intercede for them.

Because His sacrifice is perfect and His priesthood is permanent, every believer has full, confident access to the throne of grace. We do not approach God in our own name or on the basis of repeated offerings; we come through the blood of Jesus, our great High Priest. In Him the shadows of the old covenant find their substance, and the people of God find a sure and everlasting Advocate.
