The Book of Psalms is a collection of
150 inspired songs, prayers, and poems
that express the full range of human emotions
in relationship with God.
It is often called the hymnbook and prayer book of the Bible.
The Psalms were written over a period of about 1,000 years, from the time of Moses to the time after the Babylonian exile. They were used in both personal devotion and public worship in ancient Israel. The Psalms give voice to praise, thanksgiving, lament, confession, wisdom, and hope. They teach us how to talk to God honestly and worship Him wholeheartedly.
