He is risen.
He is not here,
for he has risen,
as he said.
Why do you seek the living
among the dead?
“He is risen” is the announcement of the empty tomb. The angel told the women that Jesus was not there, for He had risen as He said. The resurrection is the heart of the gospel. Christ died for our sins and was raised on the third day. The apostles preached it as the decisive proof that God had vindicated His Son. Without the resurrection the preaching is empty and faith is futile. With it, death is defeated and the promise of life stands.

- The church was born after the risen Christ had appeared and ascended, and the Spirit had come.
