Immortality
is the life that death
cannot touch.
This mortal must put on
immortality.
So when this corruptible
shall have put on incorruption,
and this mortal shall have put on
immortality,
then shall be brought to pass
the saying that is written,
Death is swallowed up in victory.
Immortality is the state in which death has no more power. For the believer it is the gift of God in Christ. This mortal body will put on immortality at the resurrection. God only has immortality in Himself; He grants it to those who are in Jesus. The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. When mortality is swallowed up of life, death is swallowed up in victory. Believers will receive glorified bodies that are incorruptible.
