Heaven is the dwelling place of God
and the destination of those who belong to Him.
In my Father’s house are many mansions.
I go to prepare a place for you.
Our citizenship is in heaven,
from which we also wait for the Saviour.
Heaven is where God’s throne is and from where He rules. Scripture speaks of the third heaven as the dwelling place of God. Jesus promised to prepare a place for His followers so that where He is, they may be also. The present heaven is the temporary home of believers who have died. The future is the new heaven and new earth, where God will dwell with His people forever. There will be no more death, sorrow, crying, or pain.
