Communion is the shared cup and the shared loaf of the Lord’s Supper.
The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ?
Communion is the church’s name for the participation Paul names. The cup of blessing is a participation in the blood of Christ. The bread we break is a participation in the body of Christ. Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body. This is not communion with God as the daily walk. That page is the fellowship of life with Him. This page is the table. The Lord’s Supper is the act Jesus commanded. Communion says what the act is: a share in His body and blood, and one body at one loaf.
- Paul warns that you cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons.
- The one loaf is the argument for unity. A divided table is not this communion.
- The word is participation. The elements are bread and cup. The share is Christ.

A participation in the body of Christ.
