The Aaronic blessing is the blessing the Lord gave Aaron to put on Israel.
The Lord bless you and keep you.
The Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you.
The Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.
The Lord tells Moses to speak to Aaron and his sons. They shall bless the people of Israel with this word. It is not a wish Aaron invented. It is the blessing God gave the priests to place on the people. The Lord blesses and keeps. He makes His face shine and is gracious. He lifts His countenance and gives peace. Then the Lord says, So shall they put my name upon the people of Israel, and I will bless them. The name is put on the people by this spoken blessing. The church still hears it, because the God who gave it has not changed His face.
