The Feast of Booths remembers the wilderness by living in booths for seven days.
You shall dwell in booths for seven days.
On the fifteenth day of the seventh month Israel holds the Feast of Booths, also called Tabernacles and Sukkot. They take branches and rejoice before the Lord seven days. They dwell in booths so that later generations will know that the Lord made Israel dwell in booths when He brought them out of Egypt. It is the feast at the end of the harvest. Zechariah says the nations will go up year after year to worship the King and keep this feast. Jesus stands up on the last great day of the feast and calls the thirsty to come to Him and drink.
- The first day and the eighth day are holy convocations.
- The booth is a reminder, not a permanent house.
- The water and light of the later feast stand behind the words Jesus speaks in John 7.
