Throne of David is the seat God swore would not go dark.
The Lord declares to you that the Lord will make you a house.
When your days are fulfilled…
I will raise up your offspring after you…
I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.
The Lord God will give to Him the throne of His father David,
and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever,
and of His kingdom there will be no end.
A manger held the heir.
The throne is not a metaphor that forgot Jerusalem.
David wanted to build God a house. God promised to build David one. Offspring, kingdom, throne—forever. Solomon sat first and the line ran through wreckage, exile, and nights when the crown seemed lost. The prophets would not let the oath die. A shoot from the stump of Jesse. A righteous Branch. Government on His shoulder, on the throne of David, to uphold it with justice from that time forth and forevermore.
Gabriel announced the oath over Mary’s child. Peter at Pentecost said God had sworn that one of David’s descendants would sit on his throne, and he spoke of the resurrection: David did not ascend, but this Jesus God raised up. Paul preached the sure mercies of David. The throne is Davidic, messianic, and everlasting. The Son of David rode into the city to hosannas and died under the charge King of the Jews. He sits now at the right hand. He will appear. The covenant did not dissolve into a vague spiritual chair. It found its Yes in the risen Son of David.

- Right hand now and appearing later both belong to the same heir.
- Sure mercies of David are gospel, not nostalgia for a golden age.

- Acts 2:29-36 – David both died and was buried… Being therefore a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that he would set one of his descendants on his throne, he foresaw and spoke about the resurrection of the Christ… Let all the house of Israel therefore know for certain that God has made Him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified.
