¶ Wilderness Wanderings
Your children shall wander in the wilderness forty years.
And your carcases shall fall in this wilderness.
The Lord thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness.
Man doth not live by bread only.
The wilderness wanderings are the forty years Israel spent between Egypt and the land. The spies brought an evil report. The people refused to enter. God swore that generation would fall in the wilderness, and their children would wander forty years. Moses led them. The law was given. The manna fell. The rock was struck. They murmured, and they were carried. The years are judgment and school at once. The land waited. The generation that refused it did not enter.
