The church is the flock of God.
Feed the flock of God

Feed the flock of God
which is among you,
taking the oversight thereof,
not by constraint, but willingly.
The flock of God is the people of God, the church purchased with the blood of Christ. Pastors are called to feed the flock of God which is among them. The flock belongs to God, not to the shepherds. Christ is the good Shepherd and the chief Shepherd. The flock is one under one Shepherd. Elders oversee and feed, not as lords over God’s heritage, but as examples. The flock is precious because it was bought with the blood of Christ.
