Promises of God are the words He binds Himself to
—
and every one of them is Yes in Christ.
All the promises of God find their Yes in Him.
That is why it is through Him that we utter our Amen to God for His glory.
Not one word has failed of all the good things that the Lord your God promised concerning you.
He who promised is faithful.
Abraham staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief.
The promise is not a wish.
It is God putting His Name on a future He will keep.
God promised Abram a seed, a land, a blessing for the families of the earth. He swore by Himself because He could swear by no one greater. David was promised a house, a throne, a son whose kingdom would not end. After exile the word still stood: I will make a new covenant. I will put My law within them. I will remember their sins no more. The Spirit is the promised Holy Spirit, the down payment. The gospel is that what God promised to the fathers He has fulfilled by raising Jesus—and that the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, so that we might receive the promised Spirit through faith. Some promises are already walked on: sins forgiven, the Spirit given, the firstborn from the dead. Some are still ahead: new heavens and a new earth, the dead raised, every tear wiped. Delay is not default. A thousand years are as a day. He is not slow as some count slowness. Sarah received power to conceive because she considered Him faithful who had promised. Hold fast. The Amen is spoken through the Son. Do not cash a verse like a ticket while ignoring the crucified Yes it belongs to.

- Already and not yet keeps hope from pretending the last page is done—and from despairing that nothing has begun.
- Stagger not is how faith treats a body as good as dead and a God as good as His word.
- Amen through Him is worship, not a stamp at the end of a wish list.
