Secrets of the Kingdom are the hidden things of God’s reign that Jesus gives to those who come in and ask.
To you it has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of heaven,
but to them it has not been given.
He spoke to the crowds in parables.
He explained them to the disciples in the house.
A secret here is not a password for the elite.
It is truth God kept and then opened in the Son,
while the hard of hearing stay outside.
Matthew, Mark, and Luke all record the same hinge after the sower. Why parables? Because seeing they do not see. To you it has been given. Mark says the secret of the kingdom of God; Matthew and Luke use the plural. The content is the unexpected shape of the reign: a word that can be snatched, a field with two sowings, a tiny seed, hidden leaven, a net still in the water, a treasure a man sells all to buy.
Israel expected a kingdom that arrived as David’s banner. Jesus brought a kingdom that arrives as seed and as a rejected stone. That is the secret. Daniel had said there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries. The Son is that revealing. He hides from the wise who will not bow and gives to little children. Paul later preaches the mystery of Christ: Gentiles fellow heirs, Christ in you the hope of glory. The secrets of the kingdom and the mystery of the gospel are one household of unveiling. They are given to be understood, kept, and taught—not locked in a second vault after Easter.

Many prophets longed to see what you see.

- Matthew 13:11 – “To you it has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given.”
- Mark 4:11-12 – “To you has been given the secret of the kingdom of God, but for those outside everything is in parables, so that ‘they may indeed see but not perceive, and may indeed hear but not understand, lest they should turn and be forgiven.’”
- Luke 8:10 – “To you it has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of God, but for others they are in parables, so that ‘seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.’”

Do not treat the secrets as a vault for the proud. Come into the house. Ask. Understand. Bring out of the treasure what is new and what is old. Hear—and do.
