Clouds of Heaven are the chariot and the veil of the glory of God.
Behold, with the clouds of heaven there came one like a son of man.
They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
A cloud took Him out of their sight.
This Jesus will come in the same way as you saw Him go.
Every eye will see Him,
even those who pierced Him,
and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of Him.
Behold, He is coming with the clouds.
Israel learned the cloud at Sinai and in the wilderness. The Lord descended in a thick cloud. The pillar of cloud led them by day and stood at the entrance of the tent. When the tabernacle was finished, the cloud covered it and the glory filled the house. Solomon’s temple knew the same dark brightness; the priests could not stand to minister. The psalms call Him the One who makes the clouds His chariot, who rides on a cherub and flies, who comes in thick darkness. Daniel saw the son of man coming with the clouds to the Ancient of Days—ascent to the throne as well as appearance to the world. Jesus bound that vision to His own future: you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of Power and coming on the clouds of heaven. At the mount of transfiguration a bright cloud overshadowed them, and the voice spoke from the cloud. At the ascension a cloud received Him. The coming will not be a rumor in a back room. Lightning from east to west. Power and great glory. Clouds in Scripture can hide and reveal. On that day they will reveal.
