Coming of the Son of Man is Jesus’ name for the day He appears in glory.
They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
As were the days of Noah,
so will be the coming of the Son of Man.
When the Son of Man comes in His glory,
and all the angels with Him,
then He will sit on His glorious throne.
The title is Daniel’s.
The hour is the Father’s.
The command is Watch.
Daniel saw one like a son of man coming with the clouds of heaven to the Ancient of Days. Dominion, glory, and a kingdom were given to Him—an everlasting dominion. Jesus took that name for Himself in the days of His humility and pointed it at the end. The Son of Man must suffer and be killed and rise. The Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins. The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath. Then: they will see the Son of Man coming. Lightning from east to west. A sign in heaven. Angels gathering the elect. A thief’s hour. Two in a field; one taken and one left. Before the Sanhedrin He said they would see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of Power and coming on the clouds of heaven. That sentence helped cost Him the cross. Paul still calls Him the Lord who descends. John sees one like a son of man in the midst of the lampstands and later on a white cloud with a sickle. Coming is not a rumor the church invented. It is the next public act of the Man who already came in weakness. Already and not yet meet in the title. He has come. He will come.

- Mark 13:26-27, 32-37 – They will see the Son of Man coming in clouds… concerning that day or hour, no one knows… Stay awake.
- Acts 1:9-11 – A cloud took Him out of their sight. This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.
- 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 – The Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God.
