Your young men shall see visions is Joel’s line for the Spirit given to strength in its first years.
I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh.
Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
your old men shall dream dreams,
and your young men shall see visions.
In the last days,
God declares,
I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh…
and your young men shall see visions.
Youth is not too raw for God to open the eyes.
It is named in the pouring.
Joel does not hand the future only to elders. Young men see. The Hebrew and the Greek both mean sight that is given, not invented—something shown. Samuel was a boy when the Lord called in the night and then let none of his words fall to the ground. Isaiah said, I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne. Ezekiel was in his thirtieth year when the heavens opened. Daniel was a youth in Babylon when mysteries were shown. Saul of Tarsus was a young man when a light from heaven flashed and he asked, Who are You, Lord? Peter quotes Joel on Pentecost and keeps the young men in the sentence. Visions in Scripture serve the Word already given. They do not replace Moses and the Prophets. They do not excuse a restless generation that will not sit under teaching. They also forbid a church that treats the young as decoration until their hair turns. All flesh includes the ones still gathering years. See, then speak what agrees with the Son. Test what you saw. Walk it out. The last days are not a youth movement. They are a Spirit movement that refused to skip the young.
- Young men are listed beside daughters and old men. No age owns the Spirit.
- Vision is given sight. It is not the same as ambition with religious words.
- Samuel’s lamp and Paul’s road prove the Lord is not waiting on tenure.
- This is that still includes them. Peter did not save the line for later.
- Test the vision by the Book. If it leads away from the Lord, shut it.
- Strength without sight becomes violence. Sight without the Word becomes fog.
- The pouring is for upbuilding, not for a brand built on a night.
- Named in the Pouring – Beside sons, daughters, and old men.
- Visions – Sight given while awake to the Lord’s purpose.
- Last Days – Peter’s frame; the gift is not locked in Samuel’s century.
- Tested – Law and testimony; one gospel.
- Not Hype – Shown, then obedient; not staged.
- Strength Directed – Young energy yoked to what God showed.
- One Spirit – Same gift as the gray head who dreams.
- Joel 2:28-29 – “And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions. Even on the male and female servants in those days I will pour out my Spirit.”
- Acts 2:16-18 – “This is what was uttered through the prophet Joel: ‘And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.’”
- 1 Samuel 3:1, 10, 19 – The word of the Lord was rare in those days; there was no frequent vision. The Lord came and stood, calling as at other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” And Samuel said, “Speak, for your servant hears.” And Samuel grew, and the Lord was with him and let none of his words fall to the ground.
- Isaiah 6:1, 8 – “I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up… And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send?’ Then I said, ‘Here I am! Send me.’”
- Ezekiel 1:1 – In the thirtieth year… the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God.
- Daniel 1:17; 2:19 – God gave them learning and skill; Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams. The mystery was revealed to Daniel in a vision of the night.
- Acts 9:3-6 – A light from heaven flashed around him. “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?” And he said, “Who are you, Lord?”
- Acts 10:9-17 – Peter went up on the housetop… and saw the heavens opened and something like a great sheet descending.
- Acts 16:9-10 – A vision appeared to Paul in the night: a man of Macedonia… And when Paul had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go on into Macedonia, concluding that God had called us.
- Proverbs 29:18 – Where there is no prophetic vision the people cast off restraint, but blessed is he who keeps the law.
- Habakkuk 2:2-3 – Write the vision; make it plain on tablets… If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come.
- Numbers 12:6 – If there is a prophet among you, I the Lord make myself known to him in a vision.
- Isaiah 8:20 – To the law and to the testimony. If they will not speak according to this word, it is because they have no dawn.
- 1 John 4:1 – Test the spirits to see whether they are from God.
- 1 Timothy 4:12 – Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.
- Joel 2:32 – Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Your young men shall see visions.
I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh. This is what was uttered through the prophet Joel.
Speak, for Your servant hears. The Lord let none of his words fall to the ground.
I saw the Lord. Here I am. Send me.
A light from heaven. Who are You, Lord?
Write the vision. Make it plain. If it seems slow, wait for it.
To the law and to the testimony. Test the spirits. Let no one despise you for your youth—set an example.
Do not tell the young the Spirit waits for gray hair. Do not tell the church a vision outranks the Book.
The pouring named the young men. Receive the Spirit. Keep the Word. If He opens the eyes, it will agree with the Son. Then go. Call on the Name. The last days have begun.
