¶ Edifying the Body
For the edifying
of the body of Christ.
For the edifying of the body of Christ:
from whom the whole body
fitly joined together
maketh increase of the body
unto the edifying of itself in love.
Edifying the body is the building up of the church, the body of Christ. Christ gave gifts for the perfecting of the saints, the work of the ministry, and the edifying of the body of Christ. The body is built up by truth spoken in love, by the supply of every joint, and by love. Edifying is the opposite of tearing down. The goal is growth into Christ, the Head, until the body is mature and stable.
