For the perfecting of the saints.
Christ gave gifts
to equip His people.
For the perfecting of the saints,
for the work of the ministry,
for the edifying of the body of Christ:
till we all come in the unity of the faith.
The perfecting of the saints is the equipping and maturing of the people of God. Christ gave apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers for this purpose. Perfecting means to equip, to complete, to prepare for service. The goal is that the saints be fitted for the work of the ministry and for the edifying of the body of Christ. The process continues until we all come in the unity of the faith unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ.
