The breastpiece carried the names of Israel on Aaron’s heart.
Aaron shall bear the names of the sons of Israel in the breastpiece of judgment on his heart.
The breastpiece of judgment is square, set with twelve stones, one for each son of Israel. Aaron wears it on the ephod, over his heart, when he goes in before the Lord. The Urim and Thummim are put in it. He bears the names so that the tribes are remembered before the Lord continually. The high priest does not enter for himself only. The people are on his chest.
- Twelve stones, engraved like seals, in rows of three.
- The gold cords and rings bind it to the ephod so it does not swing loose.
- Jesus is the high priest who bears His people in the true tent, not on gold and linen.
