The grain offering is fine flour, oil, and frankincense, a memorial portion burned.
A pleasing aroma to the Lord.
The grain offering, or meal offering, is fine flour with oil and frankincense. A memorial portion is burned on the altar. The rest belongs to Aaron and his sons. It is most holy. No leaven and no honey go on the altar portion. Salt is not omitted. It often accompanies the animal offerings, the gift of the field beside the gift of the herd. Israel brings the fruit of the ground to the God who gave the land. Jesus is the bread who comes down from heaven, the gift the flour could only signify.
