A Nazirite is a man or woman separated to the Lord by a vow.
He shall separate himself from wine and strong drink.
A Nazirite vow sets a man or a woman apart for a stated time, or for life. No wine or strong drink, no razor on the head, and no dead body, even of father or mother. The hair is the sign of the separation. When the days are fulfilled, the hair is shaved at the tent and offerings are brought. Samson is a Nazirite from the womb. Samuel is given to the Lord all his days. Paul joins four men in their vow in Acts and pays for the shaving of their heads. The church is not under the vow. The separation to the Lord is the thing the vow pictured.
