The shewbread is the bread of the Presence, twelve loaves before the Lord.
You shall set the bread of the Presence on the table before me regularly.
Twelve loaves are set in two piles on the gold table in the Holy Place, a memorial portion for the twelve tribes. Fresh bread is set each Sabbath, and the priests eat the old loaves in a holy place. It is most holy. David eats the bread of the Presence when he is hungry, and the priest gives it to him. Jesus cites that day against those who condemn His disciples for plucking grain on the Sabbath. The bread was a presence-sign. He is the bread of life.
