I know thy works,
and where thou dwellest,
even where Satan’s seat is.
And thou holdest fast my name,
and hast not denied my faith.
Antipas was my faithful martyr,
who was slain among you,
where Satan dwelleth.
The prince of this world cometh,
and hath nothing in me.
The Lord tells Pergamos that He knows where they dwell, even where Satan’s seat is. The word is throne. Satan has a seat there. He dwells there. Antipas, the faithful martyr, was slain among them, where Satan dwelleth. The church is not told to leave. It is told to hold fast the name, and it is rebuked for those who hold the doctrine of Balaam and the doctrine of the Nicolaitans. Satan’s throne is a real claim in that city. It is not the throne of God. The prince of this world comes, and has nothing in Jesus. The seat in Pergamos does not make Satan God.
