Antipas is the faithful witness Jesus names in Pergamum,
killed among them.
You did not deny my faith
even in the days of Antipas my faithful witness,
who was killed among you,
where Satan dwells.
Yet you hold fast my name.
One verse. Jesus calls him my faithful witness. He was killed in Pergamum, where Satan dwells. The church did not deny the faith in those days. That is the record. Later stories add a death the text does not tell. The letter does not need them. A named witness, killed where Satan’s throne is, is the praise and the measure.
He belongs with the seven letters. A martyr in the city is not a license for the teaching Christ hates.
My faithful witness.
Killed among you.
Where Satan dwells.
They held the name.
Some still held the teaching.
You did not deny my faith even in the days of Antipas my faithful witness, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells.
Yet you hold fast my name.
He is named once. He is Christ’s witness. He was killed in Pergamum. Do not add a legend. Do not forget the charge that follows his name.
