Peace with God refers to
the restored and harmonious relationship
between God and a person
who has been justified by
faith in Jesus Christ.
It means
no longer being at enmity with God,
but being brought into a state of favor
and fellowship with Him.
Because of sin, every human being is naturally at enmity with God — separated from Him and under His righteous judgment. Peace with God is not something we can achieve through good works or religious effort. It is a gift that comes only through faith in Jesus Christ.
When we trust in Christ, we are justified (declared righteous), and the barrier of sin is removed. As a result, we are brought into a state of peace with God. This peace is both an objective reality (our standing before God) and a subjective experience (the peace we feel in our hearts).
Peace with God comes through justification by faith. The moment a person believes in Jesus Christ, they are declared righteous, their sins are forgiven, and they are reconciled to God. From that point forward, they are no longer God’s enemy but His child and friend.
This peace is not based on our feelings or performance. It is based on the finished work of Christ on the cross.
Having peace with God brings many blessings to the believer:
Peace with God is not the absence of trouble in life, but the settled confidence that we are right with God and that nothing can separate us from His love. It is one of the greatest privileges of being a Christian.
