The Helmet of Salvation is
the fifth piece of the Armor of God

Just as a Roman soldier’s helmet
protected his head from deadly blows,
the Helmet of Salvation
protects the believer’s mind
from the enemy’s attacks

deception, despair, false teaching, and identity lies.
The Roman soldier wore a sturdy metal helmet, often with cheek guards and a neck guard. It was designed to protect the most vital part of the body — the head — from sword strikes, arrows, and blunt force trauma. Without it, a soldier was extremely vulnerable to fatal head wounds.
