The fall of Satan is his loss of place,
from accuser in heaven to one thrown down.
I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.
He was thrown down to the earth,
and his angels were thrown down with him.
Your heart was proud because of your beauty.
Jesus says He saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. Revelation says there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought the dragon. The great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, called the devil and Satan, and his angels with him. The loud voice says the accuser has been thrown down. That is the fall the New Testament states.
- Isaiah 14 and Ezekiel 28 are spoken first to the king of Babylon and the king of Tyre. Lucifer is the name later taken from Isaiah 14:12. Many read a second referent in the I-will-ascend speech and in the heart proud because of beauty. The pages should not pretend those chapters are only about Satan, or that they say nothing about him.
- Pride is the sin those chapters name. A lifted heart reaches for a throne.
- The accuser of the brethren is what he still does after the throw-down, until the conquest by the blood of the Lamb and the word of testimony.
Jesus’ sentence is enough to know the fall is real. Revelation tells the throw-down and the rage that follows on the earth. The end is the lake of fire, not a return to the place he lost.
I saw Satan fall like lightning.
The dragon was thrown down,
and his angels with him.
The accuser has been thrown down.
- Luke 10:18 is Jesus’ own word. Satan fell like lightning from heaven.
- Revelation 12 names the war, the dragon, and the throw-down with his angels.
- The accuser’s fall is announced in heaven before the woe on the earth.
- Isaiah 14 and Ezekiel 28 address human kings and have long been read as more than the kings.
- Pride is the moral center of those poems.
- The lake of fire is the end, not a restoration.
- The Sight – Like lightning from heaven.
- The War – Michael and his angels, the dragon and his angels.
- The Throw – Thrown down to the earth.
- The Company – His angels thrown down with him.
- The Charge – The accuser thrown down.
- The Poems – Babylon and Tyre, read with care.
- The End – The lake of fire.
- Luke 10:18 – “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.”
- Revelation 12:7-9 – “Now war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon… The great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan… he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.”
- Revelation 12:10-12 – “The accuser of our brothers has been thrown down… Therefore, rejoice, O heavens… But woe to you, O earth and sea, for the devil has come down to you in great wrath.”
- Isaiah 14:12-15 – “How you are fallen from heaven, O Day Star, son of Dawn! … You said in your heart, ‘I will ascend to heaven’… But you are brought down to Sheol.” Spoken over the king of Babylon.
- Ezekiel 28:16-17 – “I cast you as a profane thing from the mountain of God… Your heart was proud because of your beauty.” Spoken over the king of Tyre.
- Revelation 20:10 – “The devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur… and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.”
I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.
The great dragon was thrown down, and his angels were thrown down with him.
The accuser of our brothers has been thrown down.
Your heart was proud because of your beauty.
Keep Jesus’ sentence and Revelation’s war as the clear fall. Read Isaiah 14 and Ezekiel 28 as addressed to kings, and do not ignore the pride they name. The end is the lake of fire.
