Israel is the land
the Lord promised
to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
I will give unto thee,
and to thy seed after thee,
the land wherein thou art a stranger,
all the land of Canaan,
for an everlasting possession.
Israel is the land God promised to the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. It is also called Canaan and the land of promise. The Lord brought Israel the people out of Egypt and settled them in this land. Jerusalem and Sion are in it. The covenants of God with Israel include the land. The church is not a replacement that cancels the promises. The gifts and the calling of God are without repentance. The land has a future in the purposes of God, including the return of the people and the reign of the Messiah.
