Peter’s Mother-in-Law is the woman in Simon’s house whom Jesus raised from a fever so that she served.
He came and took her by the hand and lifted her up, and the fever left her, and she began to serve them.
Luke says He stood over her and rebuked the fever.
It was the Sabbath. They had come from the synagogue. A household becomes the next holy place, and the first work after healing is a table.
Mark’s day in Capernaum runs from synagogue to house. A man with an unclean spirit had cried out. Now a woman lies sick with fever—Luke calls it a high fever. They tell Him about her at once. No crowd yet. No speech for the street. He touches, or He rebukes the heat as He rebuked the sea and the demons, and she rises. Service is the proof the fever is gone—not a lecture, a meal for the Lord and the disciples under her roof. Matthew places the scene among many healings that fulfill He took our illnesses and bore our diseases. By evening the whole city is at the door. This woman is the quiet middle of that Sabbath: family, touch, immediate strength. Simon is married. The Gospel does not hide it. A mother-in-law in the house means the apostle’s call did not erase a kitchen. Jesus walks into both. The miracle is small on the page and large in the home. He lifts. She serves. That is the shape.
- They told Him about her at once. Intercession can be a sentence in a doorway.
- Rebuke of fever sits with rebuke of wind and spirits. Sickness is not His peer.
- Took her by the hand is how authority feels in a bedroom.
- She began to serve is fruit, not payment He demanded for the cure.
- The house next to the synagogue matters. Holiness does not stay in the aisle.
- Peter’s household is in the story so that ministry is not a myth of lone men.
- Evening crowds start after a woman has already set a table.
- Simon’s House – Capernaum; family under the same roof.
- High Fever – They tell Him; He comes.
- The Hand / The Rebuke – Lifted up; fever leaves.
- She Served – Strength returns as hospitality.
- Sabbath Afternoon – Synagogue, then home, then sunset crowds.

- Matthew 8:14-17 – “And when Jesus entered Peter's house, he saw his mother-in-law lying sick with a fever. He touched her hand, and the fever left her, and she rose and began to serve him.” That evening they brought to Him many… “He took our illnesses and bore our diseases.”
- Luke 4:38-39 – “And he arose and left the synagogue and entered Simon's house. Now Simon's mother-in-law was ill with a high fever, and they appealed to him on her behalf. And he stood over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her, and immediately she rose and began to serve them.”

- Matthew 8:15 – She rose and began to serve Him.
- Galatians 5:13 – Through love serve one another.
- 1 Peter 4:10 – As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another.
They told Him about her. He took her by the hand and lifted her up. The fever left her, and she began to serve them.
He stood over her and rebuked the fever, and immediately she rose.
He touched her hand. She rose and began to serve Him.
He took our illnesses and bore our diseases.
Do we not have the right to take along a believing wife, as does Cephas?
Do not wait for the crowd at sundown to believe He enters houses. Tell Him. Let Him take the hand. Rise and serve. The first work after fever can be a table. Authority that rebukes demons also lifts a mother in the next room.
