Spiritual Beings are the personal creatures of the unseen realms.
They are not ideas, energies, or departed human souls.
Scripture names angels, cherubim, seraphim, the living creatures, and also the devil and his angels.
All of them were created through the Son and for the Son. None of them is to be worshiped.
The Bible opens heaven without turning it into a catalog of speculation.
God made the heavens and the earth, the visible and the invisible.
- Among the invisible are thrones, dominions, rulers, and authorities.
- Angels appear as messengers and ministers.
- Cherubim guard the way to the tree of life and overshadow the mercy seat.
- Seraphim cry holy in Isaiah’s vision.
- Living creatures stand around the throne in Revelation.
There are also rebels: the serpent of old, unclean spirits, the dragon and his angels.
- Jesus spoke of them as real. He cast out demons, received the ministry of angels after the temptation, and said the little ones have angels who always see the Father’s face.
Hebrews asks whether angels are not all ministering spirits sent out to serve those who will inherit salvation.
The church is warned not to worship them, not to believe every spirit, and not to treat people as the final enemy.
Spiritual beings matter because God made them,
some serve,
some deceive, and
Christ is seated far above every name that is named.
- Spiritual beings are creatures. They have beginning, rank, and limits.
- Holy and fallen hosts are both personal. They will, speak, and act.
- Angels serve the heirs of salvation; they do not replace the Savior.
- Demons are not a matching opposite of God. They are rebels under judgment.
- Curiosity about names and maps is not the same as obedience.
- Test the spirits. Not every unseen voice is from God.
- The Son became flesh. No angel did that for our redemption.
- Created – Through Him and for Him; not eternal gods.
- Personal – They speak, worship, fight, and in rebellion, lie.
- Ordered – Messengers, living creatures, princes, authorities.
- Ministering – Holy angels sent for the sake of the saints.
- Rebel – The devil and his angels; unclean spirits.
- Unseen unless Sent – They appear at God’s command, not on demand.
- Under Christ – Far above all rule and every name.
- Colossians 1:16 – “For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.”
- Hebrews 1:6-7, 14 – “And again, when he brings the firstborn into the world, he says, ‘Let all God’s angels worship him.’ Of the angels he says, ‘He makes his angels winds, and his ministers a flame of fire.’… Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation?”
- Psalm 103:20-21 – “Bless the Lord, O you his angels, you mighty ones who do his word, obeying the voice of his word! Bless the Lord, all his hosts, his ministers, who do his will!”
- Psalm 148:2, 5 – “Praise him, all his angels; praise him, all his hosts!… Let them praise the name of the Lord! For he commanded and they were created.”
- Genesis 3:24 – “He drove out the man, and at the east of the garden of Eden he placed the cherubim and a flaming sword that turned every way to guard the way to the tree of life.”

- Ezekiel 1:5, 10 – The likeness of four living creatures; each had four faces.

- Mark 1:23-27 – An unclean spirit cried out; Jesus rebuked it, and it came out.
- Luke 8:30-31 – “Jesus then asked him, ‘What is your name?’ And he said, ‘Legion,’ for many demons had entered him. And they begged him not to command them to depart into the abyss.”
- Ephesians 6:12 – “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.”

- Revelation 4:6-8 – Four living creatures, full of eyes, never cease to say, “Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty.”
- Revelation 12:7-9 – Michael and his angels fight the dragon; the dragon and his angels are thrown down.

- Revelation 22:8-9 – John fell down to worship at the angel’s feet; the angel said, “You must not do that! I am a fellow servant with you… Worship God.”
- 1 John 4:1 – “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God…”
- Job 1:6 – “Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came among them.”
- Luke 20:36 – “For they cannot die anymore, because they are equal to angels and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection.”
- Hebrews 2:16 – “For surely it is not angels that he helps, but he helps the offspring of Abraham.”
By Him all things were created, visible and invisible.
Spiritual beings are real. They are not God. They are not to be worshiped.
Holy angels minister. Fallen spirits lie and destroy. Test the spirits.
Do not despise the little ones. Do not wrestle as if people were the throne.
Let all God’s angels worship the Son.
He helps the offspring of Abraham, not by becoming an angel, but by becoming flesh.
Worship God. Stand in Christ. The unseen is His, and He is enough.
