Sardis is one of the seven cities Jesus addresses in Asia.
A church with a living name.
He knows their works.
He who has an ear,
let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.
Sardis is a city before it is a symbol. Jesus tells John to write and send to the church there. The letter to Sardis is the study of what He said. He says they are dead, and a few names have not soiled their garments. The wound in the letter is a reputation of life, and a dead reality.
Revelation 3 holds the words. The city is not a code that replaces them.
Sardis is a real city.
The letter is His word to the church there.
Hear what the Spirit says to the churches.
Send it to the seven churches, to Sardis.
I know your works.
He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.
Read the letter He sent to this city. Do not turn the city into a symbol that skips His words.
