¶ Believe and Accept
To believe and accept is the heart response of trusting Jesus Christ and receiving Him as Savior and Lord. It means believing the gospel message as true and personally accepting the free gift of salvation that God offers in His Son. Faith is not mere agreement with facts; it is reliance upon Christ Himself. Everyone who believes and accepts Him is given the right to become a child of God and receives eternal life.
The gospel calls for a response. God has done everything necessary for salvation through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. That finished work is offered freely as a gift. To believe is to be persuaded of the truth of the gospel and to place full confidence in Christ alone. To accept (or receive) is to welcome Him personally — to take the gift rather than leave it unopened. Scripture joins these ideas closely: those who believe in His name receive Him, and those who receive Him are given the right to become children of God. This response is the opposite of both unbelief and self-reliance. It is the empty-handed acceptance of what God has freely provided in His Son.

¶ What It Means to Believe and Accept
- Believe the Message – Accept as true that Jesus is the Son of God, that He died for sins, and that He rose again.
- Trust the Person – Rely on Christ alone rather than on personal goodness, religion, or effort.
- Receive the Gift – Welcome Jesus and the eternal life He offers instead of remaining at a distance.
- Turn from Self – Cease depending on yourself for salvation and rest in what He has done.
- Confess Him – Acknowledge Jesus as Lord with both heart and mouth.
- Rest in the Promise – Take God at His word that whoever believes has eternal life and will not perish.
- John 1:12 – “But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.”
- John 3:16 – “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”
- John 3:36 – “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.”
- John 5:24 – “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.”

To believe and accept Jesus Christ is the decisive response the gospel requires. God has already provided the Savior and completed the work of redemption. The invitation is now personal: believe the message, trust the Person, and receive the gift. It is not about the strength of your faith but about the strength of the One you trust. The promise is clear — whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life, and whoever receives Him becomes a child of God. If you have never believed and accepted Christ, you may do so today. Turn to Him, trust Him, and receive the free gift He offers. He will not turn you away.
