Jesus Christ is
the eternal Son of God
who became man for our salvation.
He is the central figure of the entire Bible
and the object of the Christian faith.
In Him all the promises of God
find their fulfillment,
and through Him
God has made a way for sinners
to be forgiven, reconciled,
and brought into eternal life.
Jesus is the Greek form of the Hebrew name Yeshua (Joshua), which means “Yahweh saves” or “the Lord is salvation.” The angel told Joseph, “You shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21).
Christ is the Greek translation of the Hebrew Mashiach (Messiah), meaning “Anointed One.” It is a title rather than a personal name, though it functions almost as a second name in the New Testament. To call Jesus “the Christ” is to confess that He is the long-promised deliverer and king.
Together, “Jesus Christ” declares both His saving mission and His messianic identity.
The New Testament presents Jesus as one person with two natures:
These two natures are united in the one person of Jesus Christ without confusion or separation. Only as both true God and true man could He be the perfect mediator and Savior.
Jesus was born in Bethlehem in the reign of Caesar Augustus, grew up in Nazareth, and began His public ministry around the age of thirty. He preached the kingdom of God, taught with unique authority, performed miracles that displayed His power over nature, sickness, demons, and death, and called people to repent and believe the good news.
He gathered disciples, trained the Twelve, and revealed the Father through His words and works. His ministry was marked by compassion for the broken, confrontation with religious hypocrisy, and unwavering obedience to the Father’s will.
The climax of Jesus’ earthly work is His death on the cross and His resurrection on the third day. He offered Himself as a perfect sacrifice for sins, bearing the judgment that sinners deserved. On the cross He accomplished redemption, reconciliation, and the defeat of the powers of darkness.
God raised Him from the dead, vindicating His identity and work. Forty days later He ascended into heaven, where He sits at the right hand of the Father.

He fulfills the threefold office of Prophet, Priest, and King.
Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God who became man, lived a sinless life, died as a substitute for sinners, rose from the dead, and now reigns as Lord. He is the only Savior and the center of God’s redemptive plan. To know Him is to know the Father, and to trust Him is to receive eternal life.
