The Grace of God is
His free, undeserved favor
and loving-kindness toward sinners.
It is the wellspring of salvation,
the power for Christian living,
and the atmosphere in which the people of God exist.
Grace is not earned, deserved, or repaid;
it is given freely because of who God is
and what Christ has done.
From beginning to end,
the Christian life is a life of grace.
Grace stands at the center of the gospel and of the entire Christian faith. Because of sin, humanity deserves only judgment. Instead, God gives the opposite — favor, forgiveness, righteousness, and eternal life — through Jesus Christ. This grace is not a vague kindness; it is costly, purchased by the blood of the Son, and applied by the Holy Spirit. Grace justifies the ungodly, adopts enemies as children, trains believers to renounce sin, and sustains them to the end. It is both a one-time gift that saves and an ongoing power that enables daily obedience and hope. Every spiritual blessing flows from the grace of God.
- Grace is free and undeserved; any mixture of human merit turns it into something other than grace.
- The ultimate expression of God’s grace is the gift of His Son and the salvation accomplished through His cross and resurrection.
- Grace not only forgives; it also teaches, empowers, and transforms.
- Believers stand in grace, grow in grace, and will be perfected by grace.
- God’s grace is sufficient in weakness and abundant for every need.
- Grace and works are opposed as means of justification, yet true grace always produces good works as its fruit.
- The whole of the Christian life — past, present, and future — rests on the grace of God alone.
- Saving Grace – The free gift of justification, forgiveness, and eternal life through faith in Christ.
- Sanctifying Grace – The ongoing power of God that trains believers to renounce ungodliness and live upright lives.
- Sustaining Grace – Daily strength and sufficiency for trials, weakness, and perseverance.
- Empowering Grace – The enablement for service, witness, and every good work.
- Abounding Grace – Grace that is more than enough, overflowing even where sin has abounded.
- Sovereign Grace – Grace that originates in God’s free choice and is not dependent on human initiative.
- Future Grace – The grace that will be brought to believers at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
- Ephesians 2:8-9 – “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”
- Titus 2:11-12 – “For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age.”
- Romans 3:23-24 – “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.”
- Romans 5:20-21 – “Where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, so that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
- Romans 6:14 – “For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.”
- 2 Corinthians 12:9 – “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
- John 1:14, 16-17 – “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us… full of grace and truth… From his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.”
- 1 Corinthians 15:10 – “But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain.”
- Hebrews 4:16 – “Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”
- 1 Peter 5:10 – “And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.”
- Acts 20:24 – Paul speaks of “the gospel of the grace of God.”
- 2 Timothy 2:1 – “You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus.”
The grace of God is the freest and most powerful force in the universe. It reaches the undeserving, raises the dead, justifies the ungodly, and keeps the weak. Grace does not merely give a second chance; it gives a new heart, a new standing, and a new power to live. From the first moment of faith until the last breath, and then into eternity, the believer lives by the grace of God alone. This grace trains us to say no to sin and yes to godliness, sustains us in every trial, and will one day present us faultless in the presence of His glory. All boasting is silenced, all hope is secured, and all glory belongs to the God of all grace.
